The onset of a
new year is always an exciting time, and not just because you have new
presents to play with. It’s a time for change, when you can make
adjustments in your life so that the new year will be a better one.
What’s not to like about that? While these resolutions may typically
center on things like your diet or being more productive, there’s no
reason to exclude your beauty routine. Chances are, even if you already
consider yourself a face makeup, eye makeup, and lip color pro, there’s room for improvement. That’s why we’re proposing six makeup resolutions—dealing with everything from primer to eyeliner—to start in the new year.
#1
BE LOYAL TO PRIMER
If you haven’t been convinced to hop on
the primer bandwagon thus far, now’s your chance. Who can benefit from
wearing primer? Well, the short answer is everyone. As long as you’re
someone who wants your makeup to last longer and apply easier, it’s a
good idea to use a face primer every time you wear makeup. To prep your
face for foundation or BB cream, apply a primer that matches your desired makeup finish, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Glow Lock Makeup Primer or the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Pro Matte Lock Makeup Primer. Don’t forget to use eye, lip, and lash primer, too!
#2
WEAR BOLDER HUES
Do you really want to spend 2018
playing it safe? Instead of reaching for the same shades you wore this
year and the year before, try wearing colors that are something
different. To mix up your eye makeup, sweep a bright eye shadow, like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible Paints Eye Shadow in Jet Set Blonde, along your lower lash line. As for your lips, rock a bold lipstick, like the L’Oréal Paris Colour Riche Shine Lipstick in Splendid Blackberry.
#3
MASTER LIQUID EYELINER
Even those who are experienced with
eyeliner can struggle with liquid eyeliner. We’ll be real with you, it
isn’t the easiest thing to master! But we’re confident this is your
year. Put your pencils and gels to the side, and make a liquid eyeliner,
like the L’Oréal Paris Infallible The Super Slim Eyeliner,
your new BFF. Our best tip? Practice makes perfect! It may sound overly
simple, but it’s true. The more you use liquid eyeliner, the easier it
will get. Then, once you’ve managed a solid line a time or two, you can
focus on learning to create a cat eye. (Here’s How to Achieve Your Sharpest Winged Eyeliner Look.)
#4
APPLY WITH A LIGHT HAND
When it comes to makeup, “the more the merrier” does not always hold true. Applying too much bronzer or blush
can totally transform your makeup look—and not in a good way. That’s
why we’re encouraging applying all your products with a lighter hand.
Tap excess product off your makeup brushes before applying and start
small—you can always build up for more intensity.
#5
WASH EVERYTHING OFF
Let’s be real, we’re all guilty of it.
Sometimes you slip into bed, only to realize that you’re still sporting a
full face of makeup. The problem is, at that point you’re too comfy to
get out of bed and wash it off. Thankfully, we’ve found a solution. You
can remove lingering makeup at the last minute—from the comfort of your
bed. Keep a bottle of a no-rinse facial cleanser, like the L’Oréal Paris Micellar Cleansing Water Complete Cleanser Waterproof – All Skin Types,
on your bedside table, along with a stack of cotton pads, and you’ll
have no excuse for forgetting to take off your makeup. Simply saturate a
cotton pad and sweep it across your skin to remove all your makeup—even
waterproof mascara. It’s that easy!
#6
DON’T BE AFRAID TO GO MAKEUP-FREE
There’s nothing wrong with wearing
makeup—we’re big fans, after all—but it never hurts to have the option
to go without. Not only will you save yourself some time in the morning,
but you can focus on perfecting your complexion instead. Add an
anti-aging moisturizer, like the L’Oréal Paris RevitaLift Cicacream Face Moisturizer Pro Retinol & Centella Asiatica, and a brightening charcoal mask into your skin care routine and soon enough going makeup-free won’t be scary at all.
