Whether we like it or not, we all have some sort of an obsession for shoes. But how did it start? And how can we ‘treat’ it?
There are three things we know well: shoes, shoes, shoes! We must have at least a pair for every type of occasion.

So we have two pairs for everyday use, a pair for when we go out with our friends, a pair for smashing parties, a pair for elegant appearances, an office pair, and there! We already need at least 6 pairs from the start.
And then we think about the colors… Because we have to match them with different dresses, purses and outfits. And that’s how we end up having shoes to fill up an entire room. At least!

How does the shoe obsession begin?
Well, let’s just say that it starts young. Really young! We usually start trying out our mother’s shoes just to see how they fit! Just so to think of how we might look once we grow up. We play ‘pretend’, and our role is to act like ladies. And because our mothers are our first models in our lives, we can say that the obsession is transmitted genetically!
But don’t worry, it’s not an illness, but it might become our greatest hobby. But keep in mind that it might also end up quite expensive for us too!

Why do we keep buying shoes?
There are a lot of reasons! We buy shoes because we need them, because we want them, because we’re depressed and buying a pair will cure it.
We buy shoes because we like to! Shopping is a very efficient therapy for our health. A new pair of stilettos will make us happy, even if we never actually get to wear them. And I’m sure there is at least one pair in your collection just waiting for it’s time to shine bright, for the right moment or occasion.

How do we stop?
Actually, the real question here is “Do we want to stop?” Why would we want that? If it makes us feel better, more confident, we might as well take it as an investment in ourselves. Being able to walk graciously in a 6 inch tall pair of heels can be considered to be a super power. So let’s think of it like this!

Buying pretty things on a payday is the thing that we long for the whole month. It is also something to keep us motivated, to make our hard work worth while! And that is not necessarily something we would like to get rid of. Any type of motivation is welcome!

But if it becomes a real problem you have to deal with, there is a way. Here are a few tips you have to consider:
- Don’t get fooled by the “Buy one, get one with 50% off” trick. All they do is try to get rid the ones that haven’t been sold. And you usually end up having an extra pair that you might or might not like. But you bought it just because it was on sale. That’s how shoes stack up.
- Throw away the really old ones. Think of it as a drastic home clean-up.
- Trade them with your friends. So if you got bored of a perfectly shaped pair of shoes, trade it for something different. You can put up a small garage sale with your best friends.
- Think twice before you buy anything. Do they really worth the price? How much do you need them? How much will you wear them?
