Eat Right
Eating foods that are rich in essential fatty acids makes your hair shinier, so increase your intake of salmon, tuna, walnuts, flaxseed, and avocado.
Shampoo Less
Shampooing
every day makes hair dry, so start to skip days in between washings.
Also, Nematalla suggests brushing your hair from the roots to the ends
before you shower to distribute the natural oils throughout your hair
for natural conditioning and therefore shine.
Condition More
Healthy hair is shiny hair, so Nematalla suggests several different types of conditioning treatments.
“Put coconut oil on the ends of your hair, brush it through, and let it
sit for 30 minutes,” she begins. “Then give it a good shampoo. You can
mix in a capful of vinegar with the shampoo to enhance the shine even
more. Finish the process off with a deep-conditioning mask. My favorite
right now is Christophe Robin Regenerating Mask with Rare Prickly Pear Seed Oil. Comb the mask through in the shower for the best final result.”

Fight Frizz
Frizzy
hair is not shiny hair, so Nematalla says to fight frizz by using a
microfiber towel after you wash your hair and sleeping on a silk
pillowcase versus cotton. If you pull your hair back while you sleep,
use a soft scrunchie, not an elastic band.
Shower Sense
“At
the end of your shower, rinse your hair with cold water, which closes
the cuticle and gives your hair some extra shine,” says Nematalla.
“Rinsing your hair with vinegar can also add tons of additional shine.”
Another change in the shower that goes a long way? Using a water filter.
“I swear by the T3 Source In-Line filter,”
says Nematalla. The filter eliminates chlorine and other pollutants in
your water and makes your hair shinier, less frizzy, and easier to comb.
“You will notice a difference instantly,” says Nematalla.

Getting Glossy
“I always tell my clients to go to their salon and get a gloss
the week of their wedding,” says Nematalla. “It not only gives your
hair tremendous shine, it also gives you a boost in body and volume.”
Even if you don’t color your hair, you can get a clear gloss for an
instant shine boost.
