Space makeup is trending on Instagram and it's out of this world beautiful

Halloween is just around the corner (wow, too soon? Nahhh) and we're already predicting one makeup trend to be huge this year.

Drawing inspiration from the galaxy with milky way colours and sparkling star glitter, space makeup is both other-worldly beautiful and completely adaptable depending on your skill set.

So whether you're a pro with makeup brushes, or still don't know your beauty blender from your kabuki brush, there's loads of looks to try...

Keep it simple with a sweep of lilac shadow, highlighted with silver on the inner corner and across the bottom lid. Star diamantes also make for a great dark circle distraction.

Embrace your inner Sailor Moon and go with a full forehead design of moon and star symbols. Switch crown colour depending on whether you're Sailor Mercury, Jupiter or Mars.

Take your holographic lip to new 3D heights by applying a lighter shade to the centre of your lips.

Or go for a clear gloss with glitter as your lip liner.

Recreate a starry night across your nose using smoky charcoal shadows and galactic highlighters.

After more of a monochrome look? Keep it clean with white liner or eyeshadow, and use a star-stamp eyeliner for precise prints.

A dreamy mix of pink, blue and purple shimmer shadows. Use a wet brush to get them really pigmented and then draw free-hand stars using white face paint.

But it doesn't always have to be colour; glossy black lids represent the endless night sky just as effectively.

As does a high-shine gloss that looks like crushed stardust.

Use a silver star sticker in place of your eyeliner flick and call it a day.

Stars shine because they're on fire, so there's no reason your makeup can't be lit with red and orange.
