As mentioned earlier, perfume interacts best with the warmth of the body. So, applying fragrance to the heat-emitting points, also called the pulse points, can make perfume last longer. Spray your favorite perfume behind the ears, back of the neck, inside the elbows, and behind your kneecaps. Applying perfume to these spots ensures they linger longer throughout the day.
Do not rub your wrists together.
We have been seeing a trend of rubbing perfume on both wrists since childhood. Although many people think that doing this will spread the fragrance properly, in reality, it does not do so. In fact, this way, perfume molecules break down quickly, so the scent dissipates fast. Instead, let your perfume sit and dry naturally.
Layer your fragrance.
Perfume layering means creating a complex, customized fragrance by mixing different fragrances. Light options like body mists or perfumed lotions contain a low concentration of perfume oil (3-5%), causing the scent to fade quickly. On the other hand, eau de toilette, a popular choice, contains 5-15% perfume oil and lasts on your skin for about 3-4 hours. If you're looking for a longer-lasting fragrance, opt for eau de parfum without hesitation. It contains over 20% perfume oil, ensuring your favorite scent lasts much longer (6–8 hours).
Store your perfume correctly.
Another thing to remember is that perfume's longevity depends on how it's stored. Heat, light, and humidity can break down fragrance compounds. Therefore, the scent goes away fast. Your perfume bottle or packaging usually contains instructions on proper storage, so be sure to read them carefully. However, typically, you can keep the perfume's fragrance just by keeping it in a cool, dry place away from bright light.
