How to DIY Chanel’s Bejeweled Brows

Chanel's F/W show left us swooning over the idea of bejeweled brows, so much so that we dug out our glue gun, needle, and thread, and came up with a pair of custom sparkly strips perfect for parties come September!

All it takes is a handful of your favorite beads and sequins and a little time to turn out a pair of these wild and trendy must-haves, but it takes a lot of confidence to sport them. Are you up for the challenge? Let's get crafting!

You’ll Need:
[post_ads_2]
  • A crafting surface
  • A ruler
  • Scissors or a rotary cutter
  • A small amount of black craft felt or similar non-stretchy material
  • Marking chalk
  • A hot glue gun
  • Black sequins (standard and/or extra-small)
  • An assortment of extra small sequins in your favorite colors (we used two colors on each)
  • Tweezers
  • A needle and black thread
  • 12 assorted small stone, glass, or crystal beads

STEP 1

Measure your brows with a ruler to find the ideal size for your strips. Generally they will be between 1/4" to 3/8" wide and around 2" long. Mark out two rectangles on the felt in the corresponding measurements using your chalk and a ruler. Cut the rectangles out with your scissors. Hold them over your brows to check the size.

STEP 2

Heat up your hot glue gun. Dump out your sequins into separate piles on your crafting surface. Use your tweezers to pick up a black sequin. Tap it against the hot glue on the tip of the gun, then transfer it to the edge of your felt strip. Repeat with a colored sequin, and continue overlapping the previously placed sequin ever so slightly. Work from one end of the felt strip to the other.

STEP 3
Once both your felt strips are covered, turn off your glue gun. Using your tweezers, pull away any and all remaining glue threads from the surface of the sequins until they appear clean.

STEP 4

Tie a knot at one end of your thread. Push the needle through your brow strip from back to front near one end. Thread a bead through the needle and push the needle through the strip to the back again, next to the hole you just made. Pull your thread until the bead sits taut. Push the needle through to the front again about 1/4" away from the last stitch, and repeat with another bead. Continue with six assorted beads until you reach the edge. Push the needle through to the back and tie a knot. Repeat on the second brow strip using the remaining six beads.

STEP 5

Attach the strips to your brows using a cosmetic adhesive such as spirit gum or liquid latex, available at specialty makeup stores or costume shops and from special effects makeup companies such as Ben Nye.

How will you rock your bejeweled brows? With a bare face à la Chanel? Or with an equally bold makeup look to match? Either way, you'll feel fierce sporting one of the most daring trends of the season, and satisfied knowing you did it yourself!
