Happy Tuesday everyone! The big news today is that Angelina Jolie is
the face of Guerlain's new fragrance, Mon Guerlain. If you're a big-time
celebrity, a fancy fragrance campaign is almost a right of passage.
(We're thinking Charlize Theron for Dior J'Adore , Natalie Portman for Miss Dior Chérie, and Scarlett Johansson for Dolce & Gabbana The One.) Yesterday, Guerlain revealed that Angelina Jolie the face of their latest fragrance, Mon Guerlain, that launches in March.
[post_ads]Amazingly, Guerlain
has managed to keep the Jolie partnership on the DL, but we’re learning
that the dream team has been in the works since 2015, when the brand
reached out to the star while she was in Cambodia directing her film, First They Killed My Father. Jolie also has a special affinity for Guerlain, WWD reports. Her mother used Guerlain powder.
Not
surprisingly, this isn’t Jolie’s first time around the beauty campaign
block: She was the face of a Shiseido campaign in 2006, which—to be
fair—you may have missed because it only aired in Japan. Nevertheless,
this Guerlain gig is particularly notable because it’s Angelina’s first
big public project since her divorce from Brad Pitt last September. Talk
about a major comeback.
Guerlain announced the partnership news
on their Instagram last night with a stunning B&W photo of Angelina
shrouded in shadow and turned coyly away from view. The caption, simply:
“Guerlain Parfumeur, the French beauty brand since 1828, is honored to
announce that Angelina Jolie is the icon of its new fragrance for
women.”

As
of now, Mon Guerlain’s exact fragrance notes are TBA, but a
representative for the brand says the scent embodies the “notes of a
woman.” (Any guesses?) In creating the fragrance, Guerlain perfumer
Thierry Wasser says he was inspired by Angelina herself, as well as “modern femininity,”
which the 41-year-old mother, actor, and philanthropist totally
represents.
One example? Angelina donated 100 percent of her fragrance
campaign profits from Mon Guerlain to her own charity. Guerlain hasn't
disclosed the name of said charity, but donating to any good cause is
something we can get behind.
