But there’s something called combination hair that you probably won’t read about on the label of a bottle of conditioner. Anabel Kingsley, a trichologist (that’s a hair specialist) at Philip Kingsley, talked to Shape.com about this phenomenon, because if you do have combination hair, you want to learn how take care of it the right way.
Let’s go over the different combinations of hair you might be living with.
[post_ads]You might have oily roots and dry strands, which could be common for people who work out and sweat a lot. Whatever you do, don’t overwash your hair. This will strip your scalp of its natural oils, making your roots even greasier than before. It’s recommended that you wash every other day with an oil-controlling shampoo and use a mask once a week that will give your ends some moisturizing love.
Flaky scalp and dry ends is another kind of combination hair you might be living with. Not washing your hair enough can aggravate the fungus that lives on our scalps, so make sure you’re washing often enough and try to find a shampoo that has ingredients that will also nourish your dry strands.

There’s also the combination of damaged roots and oily strands underneath, which often results from getting your hair colored. Plus, the top of your head is often exposed to harmful UV rays and heat styling, so it’s no surprise that it may feel drier than the rest of your locks. Use a frizz balm to protect your damaged strands and a dry shampoo on the greasy bits underneath.

If you want your hair more curly, use a curl cream and let your hair air dry.
