Use: NARS Nail Polish in Jungle Red, $20 narscosmetics.com; OPI Matte Top Coat, $10, ulta.com
[post_ads]This year, we're celebrating 'Merica by mattifying our manis. Go
over-the-top with an every-other-nail color mix, or stick to one shade
like the classic NARS red that's pictured above. Unfortunately, opaque
finishes are a rarity, so your best bet is to invest in a mattifying
topcoat.
Use: Smith & Cult Kings & Thieves, $18 amazon.com; China Glaze Nail Lacquer in White On White, $6 amazon.com
Stars
are cooler at the cutoff, and these peek-a-boo shapes are adorable for
firework shows and bonfires. A coat or two of Smith & Cult's deep
shade results in an almost identical hue to that on the American flag,
while China Glaze has our white stars covered. Stencils are a must on
this one if your nail artistry skills are subpar (no shame).
Use: L'Oreal Paris Infallible Pro-Last Nailcolor in Infinite Sky, $6 amazon.com; ZOYA Nail Polish in Ling, $10 zoya.com; London Town Nail Lacquer in Beau of the City, $16 amazon.com
Wear the strappy red dress and darling white heels, but for this
holiday, leave nails independently blue. With so many shades to mix and
match, opt for an oceanic ombre of hues if your Fourth is spent by the
beach.

Use: Formula X Full Strength Treatment Nail Polish in Turnt Up, $13, sephora.com
Losing track of time in the summer is almost instinctual, but alas,
the holiday is near and you've yet to lock down an appointment at the
salon. Swiping on a few coats of red is always a safe bet for a (very)
last-minute manicure that's holiday appropriate.
