With all of the commotion around Taylor Swift’s recent album announcement (!!!!), it’s given us a chance to reflect down memory lane with the “Blank Space” singer.

From her “Tim McGraw” breakthrough when her cascading curls always stole the scene, all the way to “Shake It Off” and the shaggy lob that saw her through that “Bad Blood” celebrity feud with Katy Perry, Swift’s look has most definitely changed and evolved over the course of her stardom.
But the one aspect of her style that has withstood the test of time? Her iconic, go-to beauty routine.
If you have followed the chart-topping singer for any length of time, you know the look we’re talking about. Simple, natural-looking face makeup, an attention-catching cat eye, neutral eye shadow, and a bold, red lip—the lip color she even sings about in “Style."
The best part about Swift’s look is that it can be played up or toned down for literally any occasion. In celebration of her upcoming album, Reputation, and the release of her newest single, here is how to get Taylor Swift’s iconic makeup for your next big event (or trip to the grocery store!).
How To Get Taylor Swift’s Eye Look
Whether it’s a subtle street-style version or a bold, red carpet ready line, Swift is often considered synonymous with the cat eye look. But it can take a lot of trial and error to master that curved line.Taylor’s No. 1 tip for perfecting her eyeliner?
“Take the angle of which direction your bottom lash line is going and follow the angle up,” she told Keds in an interview.
Because the focus is almost always on the cat eye look, Swift is commonly seen rocking some earthtone eyeshadows and natural-looking brows. Get this look by following three simple steps:
- Sweep a neutral color over your entire eyelid
- Add a darker, matte eyeshadow into the crease of your eyelid to add some depth
- Finish off the eyes by taking an eyebrow pencil a shade darker than your natural color and filling in your brows to add slightly more definition

Get Taylor Swift’s Flawless Skin
Taylor Swift’s skin is the level of smooth we can only dream about. Like many people, she uses a night cream to ensure ample hydration, but her secret? Using night cream in the morning before applying makeup, too.Try: Drunk Elephant Lala Retro Whipped Cream, Sephora in JC Penney
And while her skin seems to stay pristine at all times, a lot of that comes with her makeup application techniques. She took notes from her makeup artist and began applying foundation with her bare (clean!) hands. The warmth from your fingers can help blend the formula into your skin in a way that some makeup brushes just can’t do, and Swift’s flawless coverage proves that to be true.
To get that glow that seems to follow Swift around, use concealer to highlight underneath your eyes, the bridge of your nose, your forehead, and your chin. Set and mattify the concealer with a translucent powder.

Taylor tends to opt out of a harsh contour look, and instead she gently warms her complexion by sweeping a light bronzer underneath her cheekbones to subtly add definition. Top off the look with a light, highlighting blush to really help catch the light.

Copy Taylor Swift’s Iconic Lips
For a casual Saturday errand-running vibe, Swift sticks to swiping a lip stain over her bare pout and doesn’t worry about using a liner first.“In my everyday life, I just do a lip stain. And if you get a good one, then it kind of seals itself,” she told Keds.
Try: Saint Laurent Glossy Stain Lip Color, Neiman Marcus,
For a more glammed-up version to last her all night, though, Swift and her makeup artist add a few more steps.
To start, apply the first layer of lipstick, and use a tissue to blot away the excess. Apply a second layer, and blot again. To finish the look, put a tissue over your lips and brush on top with translucent powder to turn it into a long-lasting lip stain.
