United States: Purple Eye Shadow
When it comes to hues on the rise, purple was the standout shade for eye shadow in the United States, while in other parts of the world, metallics were heavily searched. In the United Kingdom, silver saw a 334 percent increase, while rose gold jumped 188 percent in Australia.
South Africa: Cat-Eye Makeup
The most popular pins in South Africa include twisted braids, glitter nails, and flirty cat-eye makeup.

Spain: "Russian Volume" Eyelash Extensions
Spanish pinners want relaxed glamour, whether it be with "Russian volume" eyelash extensions — which has spiked 700 percent — or "ondas al agua" hair, aka finger waves.
Japan: Ash Hair
When it comes to hair color, Japan covets ashy, understated shades. Similarly, it likes minimalist manicures with an art deco flair: "nuance nails" jumped in searches by 55 percent.

Argentina: Open Bangs
Curtain bangs — or "flequillo abierto" (open bangs) in Argentina — are easily the country's most-searched hairstyle. Think Alexa Chung effortlessness. They do want effort, though, when it comes to their nails — sculpted manicures are a huge hit, as is glitter makeup.
Australia: Marble Nails
Marble nails took over the US last year, but Australians are still keen on matching their manicures to their countertops — marble is the most-searched manicure of the year for Aussies. For hair, Australians are living in a rose-colored world, heavily pinning pink hair.

Mexico: Red Hair
Mexico is seeing red: pins with red hair were up 222 percent. They aren't as picky with nail shades, however: nude, red, and white are the top three nail colors that people are searching for this year. Black and blue are both honorable mentions.
France: Braided Buns
No surprise here: braids take the gold on Pinterest. Specifically, braided buns are huge in France (up 272 percent), along with messy buns. Braids of all kinds are the No. 1 searched hairstyle in the United States.

Germany: Pixie Cut
Searches for pixie cuts grew 266 percent in Germany, as did a peculiar search: baby boomer nails (172 percent), which are an updated take on the french manicure.
Brazil: Wine Lipstick
Wine is on the mind in Brazil. Wine-colored lipstick is up 94 percent, as are box braids (97 percent). Brazil is also up for getting crafty: homemade nail stickers (30 percent) are a hit.

United Kingdom: Red Nails
Seems odd that a classic shade would be on the rise, but for the United Kingdom, red is queen when it comes to polish shades, spiking 90 percent. For hair, side buns or chignons (up 194 percent) are trending.
