Full-on glam, nearly bare minimalists, and funky color lovers will all have something to try from the F/W18 fashion week runways.

Fall/Winter 2018 runways were full of unexpected beauty trends, like pink eyeshadow and navy lipstick, and some not-so surprising (read: glossy lips and glitter eyeshadow). Whether you’re a full-on glam type of girl or more of a minimalist when it comes to beauty, these are the makeup trends to follow this fall, alongside the runway and street style stars already showing them off on Instagram.

Pink and Red Eyeshadow
Pinks and reds have long been frontrunners in the fashion and beauty realm. Millennial pink was 2017’s color of the year, it was featured in rose gold hairstyles, and now on the eyelids of some of this year’s top models at Anna Sui, Christian Siriano, and Prada, to name a few. Urban Decay is even jumping on the trend, with the upcoming release of Naked Cherry replacing the original Naked Palette with 12 fresh-picked fuschia-hued neutrals. Start with a subtle, baby pink to dip your toes into this bold fall makeup trend.

Grunge Smokey Eye
Smokey browns, greys, and blacks were rampant on runways. Between Kaia Gerber’s full-on smoke out at Tom Ford, Area’s warm brown take on the trend, and a more romantic look at the Coach show, we’re expecting smudged shadow both day and night. Swap an intense onyx for a more subtle brown to make your smokey eye daytime appropriate.

Glossy Lips
Say goodbye to the matte domination because youthful, minimalist makeup reaches an all-time high with glossy lips down every runway. The simple elegance of a neutral sheen took center stage at Roberto Cavalli, Pamella Roland, and more recently at Tory Burch’s 2019 spring showing, giving us the go-ahead to continue this look into next season, too. Such a simple lip is a good opportunity to play up pigmented eyes for a more wearable look.

Glitter Lids
We’re no stranger to glitter eyeshadow, and neither is Marc Jacobs, Kate Spade, Oscar de la Renta, or Ulla Johnson. It’s time to break out that roll-on glitter that’s been hiding at the back of your makeup drawer for rainbow-speckled lids that demand a double take. Or go full-on glam with a smoked-out shimmer shadow or jewel-studded wings that are downright dreamy.

Dewy Highlight
Forget the golden bronze of summer days. Fall is all about a high-shine highlight, taking inspiration from the glistening cheekbones at Balmain’s fall 2018 show. Iridescent, diamond dust, moon shine—whatever you want to call it—the icy highlight is in. Unlike gold-toned highlighters, one with white undertones helps create a fresh wet look that is way more natural. Try out a cream or roll-on formula for the best results.

Jewel Tones
Piggybacking off of the pink eyeshadow fall 2018 makeup trend, other jewel tones were just as popular. Think rich, exaggerated fuchsia wings, sultry navy smokey eyes, and forest green and royal purple-washed lids. Some designers opted for a statement lip instead of the “bold eye and naked skin” look that’s so popular this season. We’re really into this two-toned jewel lip at Self-Portrait (and her equally cool midnight blue nails, of course).

Textured Brows
Cara Delevingne brows are back and bigger than ever this season. Forget about precision waxing and put down your pencils. Feathered, unkempt brows were the main feature at Hugo Boss, Alexander Wang, and Marc Jacobs, among many other designers. The name of the brow game for fall 2018 is texture. Lots of texture. Just swipe on some clear brow gel and comb into place for a low-maintenance look you’ll love.

Moody Red Lip
The classic red lip gets a grungy makeover for fall with orange and brown undertones. We’re getting serious ’90s vibes from Bottega Veneta and Jonathan Simkhai’s moody pouts. Not to mention the unmistakable shade at Erdem and Cushnie et Ochs that any wine lover can appreciate. Pair with a dark eye and messy hair for a sexy night look, or swipe on your favorite just-bitten lip stain with a fresh face for a pop of color that’s so fall 2018.

Pop of Neon
Just another ’80s influence making its way into our makeup bags. Understated neons were everything at Chromat, Jason Wu, and Tibi’s 2018 fall/winter shows. Aqua cat eyes, floating fuchsia liner, and electric accents are the hottest way to take your minimal makeup to a whole new level this fall. A super skinny pencil is your go-to tool for perfecting this artful eye.
