2015 has been a great year for celebrity style. We’ve seen the revival of some nostalgic ‘90s trends, a throwback to some surprising ‘70s clobber and even the odd harness belt thrown in for good measure. After such an eventful calendric catwalk, it’s only right that we begin to look forward to the year ahead and the trends the next 12 months may have in store. Where to we begin with this forecast?
With the outfits of the rich and famous of course as we survey they’re stylish ensembles to predict what will make its way to a clothing store near you.
Hosiery
Hosiery
Take a break from your waxing appointments because 2016 will not be the year of the bare leg. Hosiery will be coming back in a big way as celebrities flaunt everything from stockings to fishnets as a way of adding additional details to dresses.
Satin
We haven’t seen this much satin on the red carpet since the babydoll dresses of the early ‘90s, but during the latter months of 2015, celebrities were eager for their fabrics to shine. Swathed in silken comfort, this is one look we’re happy to embrace for all our evening wear needs.
All-White
All-White
Not so practical during your everyday errands, but the all-white ensemble is one look that’s been a hallmark of the past season. Stars have been obsessed with teaming white with white, if only to prove they’re not like the rest of us ketchup-spilling folk.
Exposed Lingerie
Exposed Lingerie
The ladies of The Hunger Games – Jennifer Lawrence, Jena Malone and Natalie Dormer – show off a popular trend among the celebrity fashion pack, flaunting your lacy underwear. At least it’s a step up in modesty from the nearly naked dresses of yore.
Off-the-Shoulder
Off-the-Shoulder
Olivia Palermo demonstrates a noted trend of the current season, the off-the-shoulder top. Already a pro at rocking this look, Palermo teams her simple black sweater with a statement necklace for an impactful outfit.
Skirts
Skirts
Stars like Kendall Jenner have been quick to embrace the skirt-over-trouser look, but it was the fashion-forward Emma Watson who first pioneered the look way back in April. The skort has yet to trickle down to our fast fashion stores, but that will soon change in 2016. We already hear the H&M design team hard at work.
Metalics
Metalics
With Star Wars: The Force Awakens taking the box office by storm(trooper) in 2015, celebrities simply can’t get enough of sci-fi fashion. We expect the fans will be sure to follow in adopting the same trends, which are flushed with metallic fabrics like that worn by Lupita Nyong’o at the Star Wars premiere.
