Start with your hair down - either curly or straight. Mine is a hybrid because it is second day curly hair...but it works just as well with stick straight hair.

Tease all over your head. Not by your scalp but further out by the roots. Get as much volume as you can.

3
KEEP GOING! Tease your hair by the roots right around your face, so that you have lift around your scalp after you pull your hair into a bun.

4
Pull your hair up on top of your head loosely - and twist it into a spiral. When you do this - do not use a brush as that will pull out all the teasing that you just did. its better if you use your fingers. Its OK if its messy - that is the whole point.

5
Take your twisted hair and roll it into a bun on the top of your head securing with a rubber band.

6
Take your fingers and PULL and STRETCH out your bun as far as it will go without falling out. If you need to grab a few bobby pins to secure - do that now. Also loosen tug on the hair on top of your head to get that volume back from the teasing (so it is not flat against your scalp). Tug around your face and the back of your hair as well.

Lastly - pull some of the hair down around your face - its OK if its long - it really does soften it up and make it look lived in. Finish with hairspray.
