With fall fast approaching, there are many makeup trends to look for
that will be popping up before anyone can say pumpkin spice latte. With
metallic eyeshadow being on the rise for the upcoming season, one of the
colors being widely talked about at the moment is gold. Here are my top 3 ways to wear gold eyeshadow, with just
enough shimmer to keep you looking pretty in all the right lights:

Frosty
yellow eyeshadow is about as fun as a box of graham crackers. Please
don't. The more rich you go with gold, the better it looks. One of the
most common mistakes when it comes to wearing gold eye colors is people
tend to go too yellow, or too orange.Finding the balance in your shade
range is key. Warmer golden tones go with almost every skin tone
possible, and if you are feeling adventurous you can even go more
bronze, attempting a smokier look.
Cream eyeshadows are a great consistency to try in
gold, due to the fact they can provide a soft, subtle sheen for the lid,
and can be layered to provide more pigment.

You can always use fun colors for eyeliner, whether it's an actual
pencil or eyeshadow on top of a pencil ( a popular trick used often)
using a gold metallic liquid liner is a great way to incorporate the
shade without a lot of lid work. When wearing this trend, make sure to
wear soft, peach or champagne eyeshadows that compliment the gold tones,
versus dark, smoky shadows. The softer the eyeshadow colors, the more
the golden tones will pop your eye color. Not a fan of lining your
entire eye with gold? Opt for using shadow as a liner underneath your
bottom lash line for a subtle way of adding color. The best way to apply
shadow under the bottom lash line is by using a brush like this one here, and blending under the eye until it's seamless.

I
bet you didn't know that gold eyeshadow, whether they are powder or
cream can double as highlights on the skin. A great way to incorporate
this technique if you're using powder is to take a small blush brush and
lightly tap it in the shadow, applying a pop of highlight right on top
of your blush on the apple of the cheek. Gold will tend to turn pink
blushes a tad more peachy, and tawnier colors a more apricot color. If
you're using a cream shadow, pop a little on the cheekbone and blend
upward to give highlight. One of my favorite techniques is to blend the
highlight under the eyebrow with the highlight on the cheekbone, making
it appear seamless and dewy. You can also pop a small amount of shadow
in the corner of the eyes with your finger or a brush to add highlight
to any eyeshadow look you might be creating.
