Many of us think that being old is a punishment or an incurable disease. It isn’t so! The women in our post prove that it’s possible to grow old with chic. They’re over 70, and they’re models. These ladies don’t hide their age. They ignore stereotypes and simply live their lives to the fullest.

Lauren Hutton, 72

 

During her career, Lauren had a record number of photo shoots for Vogue (26!), and she’s not going to stop. In 2013 she posed for three magazine covers: MUSE, The Edit, and Harper’s Bazaar. And when she was 61, Lauren had a naked photo session for Big magazine — for the older women to be proud of their bodies, as she said.


Jacqueline Murdock, 86

 

As a young lady, Jacqueline worked as a dancer and could only dream of appearing on a magazine’s cover. But we know that sooner or later all dreams come true. When Jacqueline was 82, a fashion blogger named Ari Seth Cohen noticed her in a city park, and then Lanvin invited her to shoot for their ad campaign.


Daphne Selfe, 86

 

Daphne Selfe started her career at the age of 20, but, having become a mother of many children, she left modeling. When her children grew up, Daphne realized that she missed the runway and asked a model agency to find a job for her. Now, according to the model, she’s more sought-after than in her youth.


Baddie Winkle, 86

 

Baddie feels quite comfortable about her body and so does the DimePiece L.A. company: the brand has chosen her to be the face of their new swimsuit collection. While people of her age play bingo, Baddie twerks and poses in a negligee next to a swimming pool. Her Instagram account’s announcement (by the way, she has 2 million followers) proudly says: ’Stealing your man since 1928.’


China Machado, 86

 

A supermodel who became famous in her youth and a muse of Hubert Givenchy, China continues her career even nowadays, complaining from time to time that she has to visit New York several times a week for a photo shoot. In an interview with the New York Magazine, China said that she drinks vodka, never keeps to a diet, and the only cosmetics she uses are Pond’s soap and cream.


Valerie Pan, 75

 

Valerie was a model in the ’60s and returned to modeling at the age of 65. She collaborates with the leading model agencies in London and takes an active part in major events of the fashion world. At the age of 69, Valerie had a photo shoot for the ad campaign of the British department store, Debenhams.


Carmen Dell’Orefice, 85

 

This elegant lady is registered with the Guinness World Records as the runway model with the longest career. It’s interesting that, after her first photo shoot, a 15-year-old Carmen was told she wasn’t photogenic at all and it would be better to rethink a career as a model. It’s clear now that the experts can be wrong because Carmen’s still shooting for magazine covers.


Gitte Lee, 81

Gitte Lee was a famous model in the ’70s, but then she got married. After 50 years of a happy and calm marriage, she returned to the runway to shine there. At the age of 77, Gitte Lee became a star of a Céline ad campaign and Tim Walker’s model for Italian Vogue. In 2014 she became a face of H&M’s new catalog.


Joyce Carpati, 82

Joyce, a former opera singer and an art director for American Cosmopolitan, shoots for such magazines as Dazed, Another Magazine, and Guardian, and in 2013 she posed for Karen Walker’s ad campaign. This charming lady claims that her main secret for durable style is elegance.
