Hairstylist Sarah Potempa calls the braid she created on Reese Witherspoon a "Dutch fishtail braid." And while it's tricky to do, it's worth the effort. Begin by creating a reverse fishtail braid: Separate two small sections along the hairline. Take a tiny sliver of hair from the left section, pass it under, and add it to the right section. Then take a small piece from the right, pass it under, and add it to the left. Continue, and begin adding small sections from the root (like a French braid) to the small section that will pass under to the other side. After you reach the nape, keep fishtailing all the way to the ends and clip the braids up in a basket at the back of your head. If that all sounds too complicated, phone a friend, or better yet, call your local braid bar.
