Local news anchor Kelly Frey isn't letting cancer
bring her down. With a long road to recovery ahead, she's taking the
illness head-on with a positive attitude — and a fresh set of lashes.
[post_ads]The Pittsburg-based TV personality, who has been publicly battling breast cancer,
recently shared a heartfelt message with friends and family to update
them on her status. "Last Thursday, I received somewhat devastating news
during my surgical oncologist's appointment," Frey wrote on Facebook. "There's no easy way to say it… the tumor in my right breast isn't shrinking."
Frey
continued, explaining that even with the "most powerful chemotherapy
there is" and taking daily supplements, the tumor wasn't shrinking. "I
was also really mad at myself for being so naive," she wrote. "Naive to
assume that just because you are getting drugs that make you go bald,
throw up, have dizziness and light, smell, sound sensitivity and
headaches for days...that the drugs are also killing the cancer."
But
in all of the tumor revelation, Frey says something unexpected came out
of the experience: She found empowerment through not having hair. "I'm
loving not having hair. Seriously," she said. "That goes for — let's be
blunt ladies — not having to shave too!" As for Frey's lashes, well,
they're fake — and she loves them. After fearing she'd "seal [her] eye
shut" after applying falsies at work, the TV anchor decided to "treat
herself" to lash extensions.

" It's the little things that boost your
spirits," she said. "And for now in the wake of some unexpected news
last week, if lush lashes in the midst of chemo do the trick? So be it!"
Hey,
if Frey's lash extensions help her fight the cancer fight — while
boosting her self-esteem in the process — then we are 100 percent
rooting for her to get 'em long and lush.
