Remember Splashlights? There's back and more colorful than ever. Thanks to the millions of rainbow hair color trends, the 2014 trend has reemerged with a popular hashtag on Instagram: #shineline. A couple years ago, New York-based colorist Aura Friedman posted a picture on her Tumblr of a client with a horizontal band of bleached hair that went from ear to ear, and it was later dubbed splashlights. She told Allure at the time, "I wanted to create the effect that a laser beam is hitting your hair at a certain spot."
[post_ads]The same laser beam vibe rings true with a shine line. However, colorists are combining it with the more recent colorful hair trends. Instead of blending rainbow-hued dyes together to create an ombre effect, colorists are painting on horizontal or diagonal stripes of color — the same targeted area as splashlights — to create a shine line.
