Remember that foundation with the 25,000-person waitlist? You know, the one from The Ordinary

cheap efficacious skin care with no filler or extraneous fluff that the Internet has been flipping out over? We at Allure have managed to get our hands on some shades to test for those of you awaiting with fingers hovering above Add To Cart.

A few brass tacks:
However, the pigmentation was more
concentrated than I anticipated. I'm (hello, me on the left up there)
somewhere between the shade 2.1Y and 2.0N so I mixed those two shades
together. I found that even though I have olive-toned skin with yellow
undertones, the undertones on all of these shades veer very golden —
it's not necessarily the worst thing though, since the lightness of it
means you can sheer it out with a facial oil or moisturizer and it'll
just add a bit of warmth as well as tint (just speaking for the
yellow-toned shades here.

It's so light and blend-able that applying
with fingers is super easy, it pats in evenly and leaves a satin finish.
If you wanted to add a drop of an oil, you could glow it up that way,
or conversely if you wanted to matte it down, these foundation were
formulated to play nicely with The Ordinary's new primers, so that's another avenue for you.
Now the High Coverage Foundations come in the same shade range and also have a rather thin consistency for a full coverage formula. Again, a little goes a long way, but this one is super concentrated — almost like those concentrated foundation drops meant to be mixed with another medium like your moisturizer. You could do that with these but if you're looking for full heavy coverage that would defeat the purpose. What's great is that even though this does coat your face in pigment, it doesn't feel cake-y or thick at all. It does leave a matte finish and has that velvety silicone-y feel. You can also apply and build this one with your fingers, or if you're going for an evenly coated look you'd do well with a Beauty Blender or foundation brush.
[post_ads]The wear for both foundations is pretty long! I wore the serum formula all day and noticed that my midday oily T-zone didn't sabotage my complexion as much — it held up (but also rubbed off on my napkin at lunch, so it's not bulletproof). For under $7, you can try these and really not lose out at all. I prefer the serum formula for its flexibility and because I prefer a bit of a see-through finish so my skin can be seen. As far as cheap beauty thrills go, this is cheaper than most drugstore foundations and comes in way more shades than many drugstore foundations as well — not a bad deal!
You can find these foundations on The Ordinary's site for $6.70 when their supply meets the demand. The hype is real, y'all.
