Kat Von D hacks have been popping up on our radar more than ever lately. Almost a year ago, we learned that the tattoo artist herself fills in her brows with the Kat Von D Tattoo Liner. We also learned via Instagram that the Metal Crush Eyeshadow in Thunderstruck (a metallic pearl) can double as a highlighter.
[post_ads]Knowing that more Kat Von D hacks likely exist, we asked the makeup artists in the brand's Artistry Collective to share their go-to hacks. ICYMI, Von D just named Leah Carmichael, Steffanie Strazzere, Tara Buenrostro, and Kelseyanna Fitzpatrick to her brand-new Kat Von D makeup artist team. Together, they will represent the brand, teach master classes, and make videos for the new Kat Von D Beauty YouTube channel, which launched yesterday. Some of the videos, in particular, will feature Kat Von D hacks like the ones they shared exclusively with Allure. Let's be real, who knows the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks, Shade + Light Palettes and Lock-It products better than the people who use them every day and teach makeup artists around the world how to use them, right?

The Lock-It Hydrating Primer: "All you need for a quick and easy way to transform any full-coverage foundation into a sheer-to-medium coverage foundation is the Lock-It Hydrating Primer. First, I prep my skin with an even coat of the primer. While that is setting, I’ll begin mixing some primer with foundation. For sheer coverage, use two pumps of the Lock-It Hydrating Primer with one pump of the Lock-It Foundation. For medium coverage, use one pump of the primer and two pumps of the foundation. Mix well and apply."

The Lock-It Setting Powder: "The powder is a game changer. This formula was created for all skin tones and has made my makeup kit so much lighter since I now only need one. We all know how amazing this lighter formula is for setting and baking your complexion. However, I use this bad boy to transform any cream lipstick formula into a comfortable, satin-matte finish. Simply take a fluffy eyeshadow brush and lightly dust a small amount of the Lock-It Setting Powder on top of your lipstick to give it a longer hold that won't crack."
The Shade + Light Eye Contour Palette: "If you thought this palette was designed strictly for your eyes, you were wrong. Not only can a majority of the shades be used to fill in your eyebrows, but the peach-toned base shade, which is on the top right of the palette, makes for a gorgeous blush, too."

Apply a light coat of the Lock-It Color Correcting Eyeshadow Primer in your preferred shade on top of your brows.
Next, layer a small amount of the Lock-It Concealer Crème in your skin tone.
Finally, add the Lock-It Concealer Crème in White Out to your brows and gently brush through using a mascara spoolie."
The Alchemist Holographic Palette: "To create the holographic beam of a rainbow highlighter, simply blend all four shades of the Alchemist Holographic Palette side by side and brush along the areas you choose to highlight. It’s important to note that the more you buff in these shades, the more vibrant the undertone color will appear."
The Metal Crush Eyeshadow: "One of my personal favorite things to do with the Kat Von D Metal Crush Eyeshadow is a mood ring-inspired lip. I use the shades Iggy (a bright, metallic mermaid green), Paranoid (a bright, metallic true royal blue), and Electric Warrior (a metallic neon green). Then, I place them over a Studded Kiss Lipstick. I use the tapered side of the Shade + Light Eye Contour Brush to pack the colors on and into each other, which results in an ombré, blended effect. Once you’ve got this dope lip on, there’s no denying you will be in a good mood."

The Ink Liner and the Tattoo Liner: "With the ability to make such bold perfect lines each time I use Kat Von D’s Ink Liner and Tattoo Liner, I always end up using them on my lips. For deep, vampy looks, Kat Von D Beauty Ink Liners and Tattoo Liners are a no-brainer lip liner, especially when paired with the Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. I apply the lipstick first, and once it’s dry I go back in with my desired color choice of liner and perfect my lip shape."
Tara Buenrostro
The Studded Kiss Lipstick: "I originally fell in love with the Studded Kiss Lipstick because it's a vegan formula that is velvety soft and comfortable to wear. Not only are these lipsticks supercreamy, but the pigment in these bad boys is unlike any other lipstick I've ever tried. With this type of color range I thought they would make for great cream blushes and eyeshadow bases. I recently used them this way on a photoshoot with Kat and let me tell you, they were a hit." [Ed note: You can see this hack in action with Strazzere's look above. She used the Studded Kiss Lipstick in Outlaw as an eyeshadow base.]
