This season's hair
inspiration is coming from a totally unexpected place: your jewelry box.
After a long run, brightly-colored tips and dyed gray hair appear to be slowing down on the beauty front and a new, beautiful hair color trend is taking over — opal.
More toned-down than the colombré trend of the summer yet bolder than bronde locks, opal hair offers an ethereal, almost metallic sheen.
"Cooler tones tend to give you a metallic shine," celebrity stylist Aura Friedman explained to Style.com.
"When you're using really ashy tones, right before you get to gray, you
get a pearl." Beauty inspired by the most classic of jewelry? Yes,
please.
And this trend
isn't just limited to pearly and pastel shades — Friedman has also
created stunning combos with grays. She calls this one "Black Fresh
Water Pearl":
Once upon a time, yours truly tried a hair color that falls into this trend, with lavender at the top that faded to a cool pearly shade towards the bottom:
On a personal note, this isn't an easy shade to maintain — it takes a lot of care and frequent salon visits. But if you want to try a trend that's sure to make an impact this fall, give this one a go.
