[post_ads]All across the beauty
sphere, images of spiky hair, soaked in dye and sprawled across a table
have been circulating like crazy. Upon first glance, this hair coloring technique
looks more like a scene from a sci-fi film than a salon, but the
outcome is undeniably impressive. It's called "fluid hair painting" and
it looks like this:
A little weird, right? Originally created by KL Christoffersen, owner and stylist of Cheeky Strut,
the technique is similar to the painting method of balayage, only in
this case, it involves reclining the client's chair so their head can
lean on a table, then coloring the hair.
"Because their hair is fanned out, it gives me the ability to thoroughly look over every strand to see how the color melts from top to bottom," Christoffersen told Modern Salon.
"It's easier to see the color fluidity when you have that elevation.
You're able to have more control." The results: customizable,
multidimensional color that looks stunning both on the table and, of
course, when it's all done.

The
technique probably isn't available at your local salon yet, but you can
at least take a look at all the mesmerizing process pics — and their
results, of course. In this photo, Christoffersen shows what fluid hair painting looks like from the top down:
And here's what it looks like when it's done:This technique isn't just
for going blonde, either — check out how stunning it looks on in the
before and after of this brunette's hair makeover:

Clearly, this is one
instance where the process is somehow as cool as the results. The only
question we have: doesn't your neck get tired?
