When I cracked open the Tarte Tarteist Pro Amazonian Clay Palette for the first time, I immediately noticed two things. First, the shadows smell like vanilla cupcakes (but in the best, most subtle way possible). Second, it's all about the burgundy. With the new Kylie Cosmetics Kyshadow burgundy palette and recent all-red collections from Chanel and Shiseido, the first color in the rainbow is becoming a fall beauty staple. Yes, red lipstick has been around since our great-great-great grandmothers and theirs were alive, but red eye shadow is proving itself to be just as much of a go-to trend as cat eyes. OK, I might be exaggerating. However, if you've seen Olivia Wilde's look at the Oscars this year, then you understand.

There's Mod (a raspberry), Drama (a maroon), Minx (a metallic burgundy), No Filter (a purple mauve), and Whimsy (a brick). I love how versatile red eye shadow can be. You can use it in your everyday look for depth in your creases or make it bold with a metallic shade swept across your entire lid. Because the palette comes with so many shades, you can work with the others to create the perfect burgundy look for your style. For a more neutral eye, you can blend out one of the matte shades with the creams and browns in the palette. Or you can make a statement with Minx and the darker shades in the palette.
