Unconventional hair colors are everything right now, and the latest Instagram trend is taking that to an even deeper level.

You
know the almost hypnotic enchantment that comes from staring into the
crystals of a geode? Hair stylists are taking that subtle beauty and
transposing similar depth and color into what's known as "geode hair,"
and the results are so beautiful.
The most popular colors for this style
tend to be amethyst colors (think: soft purples, fuschia, and blue
tones), but you're going to want to choose the shades
that you're most comfortable with. The idea behind the look is that it's
not necessarily an all-over color, but it's more subdued in the way it
peeks through and blends with some of your natural-colored hair.

If you're looking to try out geode hair,
you'll most definitely want to head to the salon. Your stylist is going
to have to lighten the parts of the hair you want colored, and that can
be pretty damaging when not done correctly! We promise the results will
be well worth it, though.
