It is not rare for many people to have dark skin on the
elbows, neck, armpits and knees. It is nothing to be worried about its
just unappealing for many people and most of us want them removed.
The reason behind dark skin is pigmentation called acanthosis
nigricans and it appears due to aging or sun tanning. The skin on the
knees and elbows has more fold of skin layers and is much thicker.
On those parts of the body humans have no oil glands so the skin is
very naturally dry, meaning it is more dry than on other parts of the
body. The armpits on the other side are not dry but dark skin appears
due to shaving, cosmetics and creams usage. Women are usually more
concerned about this, especially in summer time when it bothers them
when wearing t shirts or tops. You can try some natural remedies to
treat this.
What to use for elbows and knees:
You can use Sugar, as the granules tone the complexion and it peels
of dead skin cells. What you should is make a mix paste using olive oil
and sugar and that put in the elbows and knees. Wash it off with cold
water after five minutes. You should do this one a week.
You can also use Lemon, as it contains vitamin C, it peels of dead
skin. Lemon also tones the complexion and rejuvenates the skin and
removes dead skin cells. What you should do is rub some freshly squeezed
lemon juice on your knees and elbows and after twenty minutes wash it
off with warm water and put some lotion on it. For better results you
can add some honey and mix it.
Using Almonds also tones the skin and it is really healthy. What you
should is warm up some almond oil and apply it on the affected area
before going to sleep. You will see the results after a few days. After
that you can blend two tablespoons of almond powder and some yogurt for a
paste. You should apply it on the dark skin and when it dries wash it
of with water. You should do this for a period of fourteen days.
Other Remedies:
You can use Baking soda, as it exfoliates the skin. What you should
do is mix the baking soda with water that is one part water and three
parts baking soda and put it in the neck area for a period of five
minutes. After that you should rinse it if with cool water. You should
repeat this method two times a week.
Aloe Vera is very good as it lightens the skin and nourishes it. Aloe
Vera also removes spots. When you use Aloe Vera you skin will be
refreshed and healthier. This plant possesses anti cancer properties.
Aloe Vera is used in many cosmetic products. What you should do is, take
some Aloe Vera gel and put it on the neck area for twenty minutes and
after that wash it of. You should do this every day.
You can use Potatoes, as they have a compound that lightens the skin
called Catecholase. What you should do is grind some potatoes and apply
the juice on the neck area, leave it for fifteen minutes. After that,
wash it off with water. You should do this every day in order to get
great results.
What to use for armpits:
You can use Cucumber, as it lightens the skin and when you mix it
with freshly squeezed lemon it does wonders for your skin. The cucumber
cools and the lemon whitens. What you should do is take some cucumber
juice and some lime juice, than add some turmeric and the lemon will
start to whiten the skin while the cucumber will cool it off. The use of
turmeric prevents stains. After that you can just place a few cucumber
circles on the skin for refreshing.
Milk, the lactose acid will brighten the skin when mixed with curd.
What you should do is take one tablespoon of curd, one tablespoon of
milk and two tablespoons of flour and mix it all and make a paste. You
should apply this paste on your armpits and wash it off after fifteen
minutes.
Chickpea mask, it brightens the armpits, what you should do is take
one tablespoon of lemon juice, one tablespoon of yogurt, two tablespoons
of chickpea and one pinch of turmeric. You should mix all the
ingredients, and apply it on the affected area. You should leave it for
sixty minutes, and \wash it off with cold water. This mask cleans and
saturates the skin. You should do this two times a week in the first two
weeks.
