Summer is finally here—and along with
days filled with sunshine and endless adventures comes the need to put
your hair up. As much as we adore the warm weather season, the idea of
checking everything off the bucket list while your neck gets sweatier
and sweatier simply doesn’t sound ideal. One of the easiest ways to
solve this problem is by styling your hair into a ponytail.
But why opt for a plain ol’ ponytail when you can take your look to the
next level? 2017 is all about ponytail hairstyles with a twist. Below,
we’re sharing a handful of ponytail ideas with enough added oomph to
make a serious style statement. Grab your brush and let’s get to it!
[post_ads_2]Ponytail Idea #1: Twisted Fishtail Pony
If looking like a gorgeous goddess
sounds right up your alley, then we have the ponytail hairstyle for you!
This elaborate low pony looks like it came straight off the head of
your favorite mother of dragons—and the good news is, it’s pretty easy
to create!
Get the look by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Part your hair down the middle.
Since this look is meant to be romantic and slightly disheveled, don’t
worry about a perfectly precise part. Just use your fingers and you’re
good to go!
Step 2: Create a Dutch braid on each side of your head.
When braiding, incorporate hair halfway back along your part before
braiding to the ends so that the braids hang down near the front of your
face. Pancake each braid and spray them with the L’Oréal Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Strong Hold.
Step 3: Divide your remaining hair into a top and bottom layer. Horizontally part the rest of your hair and pull the lower section down around to one shoulder.
Step 4: Begin braiding the top section of hair.
Next, fishtail the top section of hair all the way to the ends. Pancake
the braid as you go. Once you reach near the ends, pull the braid down
around your hair-free shoulder and grab the bottom layer of hair from
your other shoulder to begin working.

Step 5: Then braid your bottom section. Fishtail your bottom section of hair all the way to the ends. Pancake as you go. Spray with hairspray.
Step 6: Twist your two fishtail braids around each other.
Once you reach the ends, secure the two braids together with a clear
elastic, making sure to use a small strand of hair to cover the hair
tie. (Here’s how to wrap your hair around a ponytail.)
Step 7: Pin the braids together on the underside.
You don’t want your braids to come apart throughout the day, leaving
gaps between your serious style. No worries—a few bobby pins will do the
trick!
Step 8: Wrap your face-framing braids around the back of your head.
Be sure to pin them in place with bobby pins on top of each other. Tuck
the ends into the wrapped-around crown and continue to pin until
everything feels secure.
Step 9: Pull out a few face-framing strands.
To give your bohemian braided pony a bit more romantic flair, gently
tug a few face-framing strands out to add the perfect whimsical touch to
your gorgeous look.
Step 10: Finish with hairspray. Give your whole ‘do a spritz of hairspray and you’re ready for whatever the day has in store.
[post_ads_2]Ponytail Idea #2: High Bubble Pony
There’s nothing wrong with loving the look of a traditional high pony. But as you step out of your everyday lazy girl hairstyles,
it’s simply time to add a bit more detail to your ponytail. All you
need is a handful of miniature elastics to achieve this gorgeous look!
Get the look by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Pull your hair up into a ponytail. Use a boar bristle brush to smooth all of your hair up into a ponytail at the crown of your head.
Step 2: Tease your ponytail. Using a rat tail comb, softly tease your ponytail all the way to the ends.
Step 3: Tie off your first bubble.
Tie a mini clear elastic around your pony tail roughly two inches from
your hair tie to create your first bubble. Once this section is tied
off, gently tug at it to make it more, well, bubble-like.
Step 4: Conceal your hair tie.
Once your bubble has your desired amount of volume, take a small strand
of hair from the rest of your ponytail to wrap around the clear elastic
before moving on to creating your next bubble.
Step 5: Continue making bubbles all the way to the ends. Done!
Ponytail Idea #3: Mix-n-Match Low Pony
Sticking to a single braiding style is
elegant on its own, but when you add multiple techniques into one
ponytail, just imagine how pretty the outcome can be. Follow the steps
below and you’ll be able to see for yourself.
Get the look by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Part your hair down the middle. After you part your hair, split it into four sections.
Step 2: Combine the back sections. Tie the back two sections into a low ponytail.
Step 3: Spray your ponytail with wave spray. Spritz on a little bit of the L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle AIR DRY IT Wave Swept Spray.
Step 4: Braid your ponytail.
Split your ponytail into three sections and weave a traditional braid.
After three weaves, switch to a fishtail weave. After an inch or so of
fishtailing, switch back to traditional, then back to fishtailing.
Continue this process until you reach your ends.
Step 5: Fluff up your braid. Gently tug at the edges of your braid to give it that true model feel before spraying it with a hairspray, like the L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Weather Control Hairspray.
Step 6: Wrap the side sections around your ponytail.
Next, wrap the sections of hair that you set aside in the front back
around the base of your ponytail to conceal the hair tie. Pin the hair
in place underneath your ponytail so as to create a more ethereal
finish.
Step 7: Frame your face and finish. Pull out a few face-framing strands. Voila!

Ponytail Idea #4: Side Stacked Braid
Side braids offer the best of both
worlds in the ways they show off your enviable length while getting it
all off your neck for a cooler-feeling (and looking) ‘do. When you pair a
ponytail with a detailed stacked braid, the end look can be even more
stunning.
Get the look by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Detangle your hair.
Gently comb out any tangles in your hair because there’s nothing like
nearly finishing a braid only for it to all unravel due to a knot.
Step 2: Pull all of your hair around to one side of your head. Easy!
Step 3: Clip a small section of hair off to the side. Pull about a quarter of your hair out from the underside of your full mane.
Step 4: Start with the larger section of hair.
Fishtail this section all the way to the ends. Tie it off with a clear
elastic before fluffing it up to add volume to your look.
Step 5: Braid the smaller section of hair. You can choose to weave a traditional three-strand braid or another fishtail.
Step 6: Pin the smaller braid on top of the fishtail braid. Wind the smaller braid up over the bigger braid and lay it flat along the top of it, tying both together at the ends.
Step 7: Pin your braids together. Pop a few bobby pins through the underside of the braids to pin them together and your pretty pony is complete!

Ponytail Idea #5: Sleek and Crimped High Pony
If you want to keep the silhouette of
your traditional loose-hanging high pony, you can—just be sure to give
it a bit of a modern update with the season’s beloved slicked-back
hairline, topped off with a super-voluminous, crimped pony. This
ponytail hairstyle is simple and pretty.
Get the look by following these simple steps:
Step 1: Pull your hair into a ponytail.
Spray your hair from your hairline back to your crown with the L’Oréal
Paris Elnett Satin Hairspray Strong Hold before smoothing all of your
hair back into a high ponytail. Then, apply a small dollop of the L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle LOCK IT Extreme Style Gel.
Step 2: Conceal your hair tie. Take a small section of hair and tie it around the base of your ponytail to hide the hair tie.
Step 3: Protect your pony. Spray your ponytail with the L’Oréal Paris Advanced Hairstyle SLEEK IT Iron Straight Heatspray before crimping it.
Step 4: Crimp your pony. Make sure to use the lowest heat setting possible to achieve the look so that you don’t risk singeing your strands.
Step 5: Plump up your pony. Tease the underside of the top of your pony to give it a bit more volume. ‘90s chic and loving it!
There you have it. Five beautiful
ponytail hairstyles to rock Monday through Friday—and all weekend long!
