This New Highlighting Technique Is an Excuse to Wear Those Bright Shadows You Never Use

Strobing (or highlighting) has been around for a while now. There are a ton of ways to do it, and some are more unexpected than others — take neon highlighting, for example. Now, Refinery29 noticed that there's another unexpected way to strobe that's making its way across Instagram, and it's probably the most fun yet. It's called inner-eye strobing, and it's a genius way to add a pop of color to your look — it's also a great way to use those impulse-buy eyeshadows we all end up grabbing at the last moment when we pop into Sephora to buy "just some moisturizer." More than one of us has succumbed to the siren song of a highly pigmented eyeshadow we know we'll never use but somehow couldn't resist. Well, it's time to break them out and try this new technique.

Inner-eye strobing involves highlighting the corners of the inner eyes (small real estate, we know) with a shadow — preferably one that's bright and shimmery, but anything that draws attention to them seems to work. The highlight can be worn alone, or in addition to other shadows, liners, and mascara. It really helps the eyes pop and elevates the entire look. See our fave examples of inner-eye strobing below:
