Just like it sounds, it's all about being quick, while staying efficient. It can, of course, be performed by a professional but also can be done at home if you have experience waxing yourself.
The unexpected results are less pain during the wax and less irritation after the wax.
The less time you spend pulling hair out of the skin, the less time you will be in pain! Make's sense right? So, the question is, how is this way of removing hair quickly done?
What You'll Need
Using strip wax, (also called soft wax) is the only way to truly speed wax. You just can't get hard wax to cool any faster than it's going to cool.My personal favorite wax for speed waxing is Nacre Blanche by Cirepi (compare prices on Amazon). Of course you can choose to use a roll on wax like Nice N' Neat system from Satin Smooth (compare prices on Amazon), especially if you are a beginner.
I prefer good 'ol wooden stick applicators. I feel this type of applicator offers me much greater control over the thickness of wax applied to the skin. The best removal strips for this type of waxing are non-woven (compare prices on Amazon). They allow a better grip for being able to use the same strip for multiple removal pulls.
Prepare the Zone
Make sure to prep the area first. Cleanse and disinfect with a product that removes dirt and oils and is safe to use along with waxing. Most wax brands offer a great line of skin care for before and after waxing. Use a pre-wax cleanser from one of these lines. My favorite is GiGi PreHon.
Time to Apply
The biggest key to speed waxing is the wax application itself. Rather than just applying one small area of wax and then using a strip to pull it off, speed waxing is about getting on as much wax as is possible to a particular area.An example of this would be applying wax from the knee to the ankle on the entire front side of the leg. Do this quickly and as evenly as possible. Wax that is properly warmed will still be warm enough to remove after you've covered that last bit of leg.
Remove
The next step is removal using a strip. The key to this step is how much strip to use and how often to grab a new strip. Use only about half of the length of the strip, apply to wax and use the remaining strip as the "handle" to tug the strip and remove the wax and hair. Don't throw that strip out though! You should be able to use that same bit of strip to make about three pulls. After those pulls, fold the strip so that that wax is hidden inside the fold and use the clean side of the strip to continue the process. This of course, cuts down the time usually spent throwing away a strip and grabbing a new one.Don't Forget
Always remember that holding the skin firm in the opposite direction than the way you are going to remove the strip is extremely important. This is especially true in speed waxing. When you get the hang of it and start going quickly, it's easy to forget to hold the skin. This can lead to undue pain and bruising. Now that you have beautifully smooth and soft skin, don't forget to moisturize and protect your freshly waxed skin. Again, my favorite after wax treatment is Wax Off by GiG (compare prices on Amazon). It smells wonderful, moisturizes and cools the skin and even helps break up any leftover wax residue.
