Wanna go atomic blonde? Here's everything you need to know about going bleach blonde
By Natasha McNamara, Glamour
I've always been blonde, but recently I tried to grow out my natural colour. I was a little disappointed in the results - yes it was in pretty good nick, but I didn't really feel I had the WOW factor that comes with super blonde hair and in particular platinum. Enter the experts at Blue Tit hairdressers and their magical bleaching skills! There was so much I didn't know about the process, I think there a lot of myths about bleaching hair, so Blue Tit master colourist Declan Haworth not only gave me the platinum blonde goals I'd been looking for, he also answered all my questions - have a read if you're thinking of going platinum blonde.
So here's the before and over to you Declan.
"In preparation for a full head of bleach, I would firstly advise any client to have a consultation with an experienced colour technician to determine what is possible with your hair. Some people's hair may have been previously compromised with other chemical services and this is where pre-treatments with products like Olaplex are imperative to ensure the hair is at its optimal condition before processing with a pre-lightener."

"We always advise that our clients do not wash their hair at least 48-72 hours before a scalp bleach due to sensitivity that can occur during this service. Although scalp protection products are applied, allowing a couple of days for the natural sebum to be present will give the scalp more protection from the product."

"Having a full bleach application can take a long time due to the way the procedure is carried out. This is not your average colour (tint) application. Pre-lightening a whole head can take from 5-8 hours depending on each individual client but be prepared to spend an entire day in your salon. (Bring snacks!)"

"The pre-lightning products containing Olaplex No1 are applied in different stages so we achieve an even result, firstly applying on the mid-lengths and ends in fine sections separated with foils avoiding the scalp (leaving around 1-2cm at the root area). Once the mid-lengths and ends have processed the product is then applied to the roots."

"Once the roots and ends are developed to an even and a very pale yellow the hair is rinsed, the toner (containing Olaplex No1) is applied and left [facebook post="10155555687911774"]for 10-15 mins depending on the desired results."

"After the toner has been removed Olaplex No2 is applied and left for a further 10-15 mins. The hair is then shampooed, a mask applied, then conditioned ready to be blow dried."

"As we used Olaplex No1 & No2 during the colour service its best advised that the Olaplex No3 be taken home to maintain the condition of the hair. As well as using colour sensitive shampoos and conditioners that do not contain sulphates like our Davines Minu Shampoo & Conditioner."
