Marijuana and all its related parts, like THC and CBD oil, can be heavy topics. So if one makeup brand were to take a stab at popularizing a marijuana compound as a make-up ingredient, it’s fitting it should be Milk Makeup. Milk has an edgier presence than a lot of its beauty counterparts and a past of pushing pre-established limitations in the beauty industry and encouraging experimentation.
After teasing its Instagram followers earlier in the month with clues as to what was coming, Milk Makeup revealed it would be dropping its new Kush High-Volume Mascara–which proudly features CBD-rich cannabis oil as one of its ingredients–in honor of marijuana’s day in the sun, April 20.
Using punny weed quips, Milk has promised Kush Mascara users “one hit for high volume” from the brand’s “dope” product, crediting the CBD oil with conditioning and thickening lashes. Because the ingredient serves the same function beeswax would in similar mascaras, Milk’s Kush Mascara, like all the brand’s products, is completely vegan. Now that's something we can get behind.
While CBD oil is not a psychoactive property in marijuana and doesn’t cause any high-like reactions (unlike THC), there is still limited research on its medicinal and therapeutical benefits, so take claims made on the label with a strain, oops, grain of salt.
