Pregnancy is a hugely individual thing. While one couple may get pregnant
without trying, another may take years to conceive. Struggling to conceive
could happen for a myriad of reasons. Many factors play into it, however, so
consider the following things and you may have a better idea of why you
haven’t conceived yet:
1. How Stressed Are You?
Stress can stop you from conceiving. It can affect both men and women
differently, but in effect, it can make the body an unsuitable place for a
baby to grow and thrive. Making sure you’re
keeping your stress at bay
and trying not to put so much pressure on yourself could make a big
difference.
2. Are You Acting Like You’re Already Pregnant?
You can’t think ‘I’ll be healthy when I conceive.’ You need to be healthy
now, and almost act as if you’re pregnant now. You need to make your body a
suitable place for a baby to thrive. This means minimal drinking, no
smoking, eating right, and doing other things you’d be doing if you were
pregnant.
3. Are You A Healthy Weight?
It’s often important to get yourself to a healthy weight before falling
pregnant. This could mean losing a few pounds safely, or adding a few pounds
safely. Of course you should consult a trusted doctor first.
4. Have You Spoken To Your Doctor?
If you’re struggling in silence, it could be time to visit the doctor. They
may be able to recommend fertility aids, such as
microfluidics, or another technique/treatment to help you conceive. They may also be
able to perform tests to see if there’s anything going on that they should
know about - for both you and your partner. It can be nerve wracking to
visit a doctor, but it might just put your mind at ease.
5. Are You Taking The Right Supplements?
Taking the right supplements can also be important, alongside a healthy,
balanced diet, of course. Folic acid, for example, is a great way to prepare
your body for pregnancy. You may also want to include a multivitamin, but
again, it’s important to do your own research, take your situation into
account, and check with your doctor.
6. Are You Active?
Staying active ensures the body is a positive place for a baby to grow and
thrive. If you’re not an active person, you may struggle to stay healthy and
conceive. Even a simple walk each day can make a difference - you don’t need
to become a world class athlete to have a baby. Just take care of yourself.
7. Are You Tracking Your Cycle?
Tracking your cycle
is one of the best ways to make sure you’re trying at the right times. It’s
a good idea to get into the habit of trying anyway, but it’s especially
important to try at the right time of the month. You don’t want to miss that
all important fertile window!
If you need help conceiving, putting some of the above into practice could
help. Remember, it might not have anything to do with what you’re doing,
which is why visiting a medical professional could be the next step.
