Eyeshadow is trickier than it looks, and the more pigment involved, the trickier it gets. By this logic, black eyeshadow is by far the most nuanced, making it a constant struggling with finding the best within our budget. When makeup artists use drugstore products instead of prestige, many times it's because it's either a cult classic, they rep the brand, or it's for a sponsored event.
[post_ads]The idea that prestige makeup is better quality than drugstore by and large may be the prevailing belief by makeup junkies or makeup snobs (like myself at times, I will admit!), however we still like picking up some impulse purchases on an errand run, if for no other reason than that instant gratification cheap thrill. That said, it's not all garbage, folks. If you look in the right places, lots of the times the pros will find the best of the best in those fluorescent-lit aisles. And lo and behold, someone has answered our budgeting prayers and discovered the best black eyeshadow at the drugstore.
Black eyeshadow is a neutral, dare I say. It's invaluable in your makeup kit (pro or not) for its ability to work for nearly every look you could possibly create, low-key or high-key. It's also the most polarizing — when they're good they're GOLD, and when they're bad they're liable to make you Hulk-out after it misbehaves and ruins and otherwise perfectly good smokey eye creation. Instead of whittling down the one teeny black in that Naked palette or another pro palette, now you can stock up on this drugstore gem, which editorial makeup artist, Benjamin Puckey tipped off Instagram to.

Anyone's who has attempted a smoky eye using black eyeshadow (so pretty much everyone) has experienced the sooty learning curve — fall-out, streakiness, utter disappointment, ruining the entire look and having to start over because it didn't play will with the other products on your eye... the curve is steep. This one sounds like a dream — taking care of all our aforementioned concerns.
So, basically — thanks for the tip, Ben! It would be rude to keep that gem of makeup intell to ourselves so we figured we'd share.
