I humbly admit that I'm pretty damn good at drawing on sharply winged eyeliner that's even on both sides. In my head, I've convinced myself that I would win some kind of cat-eye competition if it existed. All those confident thoughts went out the window when Nicole Tait's latest winged liner look came up on my Instagram feed, though. The Australian makeup artist is known on Instagram for her intricate graphic liner looks, but she outdid herself this time. Somehow, she stacked five — yes, five — wings on top of one other.
[post_ads]However, it wasn't like the layered wings we've seen taking over our Explore pages. Instead, they interlock and create an optical illusion of sorts. My eyes can find where one begins and another ends. Despite this, I can't stop staring at her winged eyeliner. The crispness of the lines is honestly just so satisfying to look at.
Intrigued, I asked Tait to tell me her ways. Turns out, the technique is pretty simple. "I started with one liner and just added more following the shape of the first one," she tells Allure. She added that she tried to fit as many wings as possible. Depending on how much lid real estate you have, you might end up with less or even one or two more. As for the colorful liners she used, they weren't liners at all. Instead, Tait drew on liquid lipsticks from Anastasia Beverly Hills, Jeffree Star and Lime Crime. Why? "There is a great color range, and they dry fast!" she explains.

The most difficult part is keeping the lines clean. To do so, Tait used a teeny tiny brush (The Anastasia Beverly Hills Swish Liner Brush, namely) and lots of patience. "Take your time!" she urges.
Behold, other layered winged liner looks Tait has created.
Of course, Tait nailed brow carving, too.
