I've long been a fan of The Body Shop. For years I've slathered on the brand's rich body creams in below-freezing temperatures, dabbed its tea tree oil-based products on breakouts, and even gifted the annual The Body Shop advent calendar to friends and family during the holiday season.
[post_ads]But aside from its vast product selection (which is, in fact, ginormous), what I truly admire about the international beauty giant is its relentless dedication to remaining cruelty free — a pledge it has kept since 1989 — in an industry that continues to test products on animals.
And as of today, my love for The Body Shop is even greater, now that the brand (which is owned by L'Oréal) announced its partnership with Cruelty Free International, an animal protection and advocacy group. Together, the two companies hope to achieve an amazing goal: to collect 8 million signatures from people all over the world in an effort to petition the United Nations for an international convention that bans animal testing globally — for good.
While many countries across the globe, including all member states of the European Union and Norway, have vowed to stop test-driving cosmetic and skin-care products on our furry friends, there are still major regions where animal testing is still practiced — even, I'm sad to say, in the United States. (Yikes.)

Luckily, you can help stop the madness. Together, the Body Shop and Cruelty Free International, are urging individuals, like you and I, to sign the petition to end animal testing — once and for all — at thebodyshop.com/ban-animal-testing. (You can also spread the word by tagging #ForeverAgainstAnimalTesting and the brand at @TheBodyShop.) So, what do you say, will you sign?
