Maybe girls’ night out lasted just a little too
long, or maybe you’re just genetically prone to dark under-eye circles
(thanks, fam). Whatever the reason, there’s no buzzkill quite like
trying and failing to cover up that raccoon-like shadow. Color
correcting is the answer — when done right, it’s magic. Learn ~all~ the skills from makeup artist Mark Edio, who demonstrated his magic on YouTube star Lauren Lewis.

Step 1: Get Red-Y
It may sound crazy, but the secret to cancelling
out dark circles is redness. (Wait, hear us out!) “Darker skin tones
have a tendency to have a blue tone when it comes to dark spots and
circles,” explains Edio. “And the red counteracts those undertones.”
Draw the Maybelline Master Camo Color Correcting Pen in Red beneath your eyes, and if you have light-to-medium skin, go for apricot.

Step 2: Blend It In
Using a damp brush, blend the red color corrector beneath your eyes. Since it’s a strong shade, don’t sleep on this step.

Step 3: Add Foundation
With a damp blending sponge, pat a layer of
foundation all over, including the under-eye area. If you want to add a
little more concealer, go for it. “Sometimes foundation isn’t enough,”
says Edio. Then, dust a little powder all over. Your makeup will last
longer, meaning no touch-ups!
