When it comes to thick and bold frames, you don’t want them to drown out the rest of your features entirely, which is why balancing out the top half of your face and the bottom half is a good idea. You can stick to classic matte or even glossy lips - feel free to experiment with vibrant shades like hot pink or eye-catching coral. You can be generous with your eye makeup, too.

Apply concealer under your eyes to make them look less sunken

Glasses tend to make your eyes look deeper than they actually are. You might believe they hide those dark circles under your eyes, but the lenses could actually magnify them and make them look more obvious instead. Don’t skip the concealer - invest in one that brightens the under eye area with illuminating pigments.

Before you start on your makeup proper, it’s a good idea to grab an eyelash curler and focus on curling your lashes from the roots. This helps to keep your lashes from touching your glasses when you blink.

Waterproof eye makeup is the way to go

If you’re currently using non-waterproof mascara, you might find your mascara flaking off onto the lenses of your glasses. Non-waterproof mascara and eyeliner can also tend to make your eyes look more panda-like by the end of the day, which might make your eyes look sunken and tired.

Winged or cat eye looks make the most impact, which is essentially what you need to aim for when wearing glasses. Glasses can take away from the defined look of your eyes, so shaping your eyes are a surefire way to create a sharper and more wide-eyed look. If your frames aren’t overly bold (i.e. thin wire, rimless, etc), you can try a double winged line to make your eyes stand out.

Take note of the colour of your frames and the shade of the eyeliner you choose

Black frames are easy to match with any shade of eyeliner, but if your frames aren’t truly 100% black, try smoky grey or dark brown liner for a softer look. Remember to keep the liner close to your lash line - you want the product to help define your eyes more than make them seem overly distracting.
