By Sarah Wu, TeenVogueCan't stop watching.
A haircut doesn't sound like the most exciting thing to watch. In
fact, we're usually way more invested in the before and after pictures
than we are the endless snipping, combing, and trimming. But, one
haircut video has managed to rack up more than 1.2 million
views, and it's honestly mystifying. The clip in question was posted by
Istanbul-based hairstylist (or, as he refers to himself on Instagram,
"hair artist"/"hair designer") Emre Ayaksız. According to Allure,
its appeal lies in its theatricality and surprising result, which we
can kind of see. Although, personally, we suspect part of the reason why
the video has attracted so much social media attention is that you
literally don't know what's happening until it's over.

The clip
begins with Embre trimming his client's hair diagonally, creating an
extreme slope that he then begins to texturize with a pair of hair
shears. He then takes some of the weight out of her hair by thinning it
with shears, then runs those same shears down her hair from root to end.
Finally, he colors her hair, taking it from brunette to blonde. The
result: a beautifully tousled lob. It sounds straightforward enoguh, but
throughout the entire process, you'll find yourself alternately asking,
"Wait, what just happened?" and "Am I still watching the same video?"
multiple times. It's the kind of thing you really just have to see for
yourself. Check it out below:
