Summer may be over, but luminous skin is seasonless. The bare minimum: Rub on an illuminating body lotion to give your skin a subtle sheen. For more color, use self-tanner with these fall-appropriate application tweaks: Go for the slow glow with a gradual formula. Apply it two or three days in a row, then skip a few days before applying it again, suggests Anna Stankiewicz, tanning expert for Suvara at OC61 Salon & Spa in New York City. Two good options: Caudalie Soleil Divin Gradual Self Tanning Gel (us.caudalie.com) or Jergens 3 Days To Glow Moisturizer (drugstores). To avoid looking too tan and to prevent a patchy buildup, exfoliate skin every third application, says Kristyn Pradas, a New York City–based airbrush tanning specialist. Try buffing your body in the shower with Repechage Sea Spa Glow Natural Exfoliator With Dead Sea Salts (repechage.com).

A few genetically blessed women (Gisele, Blake Lively) have the type of hair that air-dries into perfectly imperfect, rumpled waves. The rest of us need these simple tricks to help fake the look. First, consider your cut, says Harry Josh, international creative consultant for John Frieda. Hair that's at least collarbone length with low-maintenance long layers is ideal, he says. To build texture and coax out waves, spritz damp strands with a sea salt spray like R+Co Rockaway Salt Spray (randco.com). Then rub some cream or oil on your ends, says Tommy Buckett, a Garnier celebrity hairstylist. "Beach sprays can make hair look a little dry," he explains. "Cream or oil will break up the salt and give ends a more polished finish." Blow-dry hair, twisting and scrunching it with your hands, until it's about 85 percent dry. Then let it air-dry. If your hair is straight, wrap sections of strands around a 1-1/2-inch curling iron, starting 2 1/2 to 3 inches from the root, says Josh. Once hair is cool, use your fingers to break up curls and spritz with a dry-texture finishing spray -- a cross between a lightweight hair spray and a dry shampoo that adds body as it holds your style. Try Garnier Fructis Style Deconstructed Texture Tease Dry Touch Finish (drugstores).

If you're going for a natural vibe, it's all about clean, chic, nude nails, says Bernadette Thompson, celebrity manicurist. To nail it, start with the shape. "Ignore the trends and follow the line of your own white tips," she says. The ideal length is just a smidge past your fingertips. If your digits aren't in tip-top shape, swipe on a flesh-toned "nail concealer" to even out the color, Thompson says. Try Orly BB Creme (orlybeauty.com). Keep the look fresh, not flat, by choosing a nude shade that plays off your skin tone. If yours is cool, look for beiges with blue or gray undertones; if it's warm, choose nudes with golden or camel tones. Nails Inc. The Perfect Nude Nail Polishes (each, nailsinc.com), a collection of four skin-tone-specific shades, makes the process foolproof. Paint it on lightly for a sheer, sophisticated nail. Or apply two or three coats for a creamy, opaque look.
