Barely There Makeup

[post_ads]After cooling down from a tough workout, you have a healthy flush and your skin is glistening with sweat. That's what you want to re-create with your makeup. Use a tinted moisturizer or sheer BB cream like Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm (ulta.com) on top of your moisturizer; the extra hydration adds dewiness, says Tina Turnbow, a celebrity makeup pro. Pick a shade that's a little darker than your skin tone. "Because of their thinner consistency, tinted moisturizers tend to dry a little lighter," explains Angela Levin, a celebrity makeup artist. If you need more coverage, layer on lightweight foundation -- only where you need it -- and blend well, using your fingertips. Try Laura Mercier Smooth Finish Fluide (sephora.com). For glowing cheeks, choose a cream blush in a warm rose or peach tone, like Clinique Chubby Stick Cheek Colour Balm in Roly Poly Rosy or Robust Rhubarb (each, clinique.com). "Tap the blush into the apples of your cheeks, blending the color upward," Turnbow says. Stick to the same color family for lips, and opt for a gloss. Try Fresh Sugar Rose Shine Lip Treatment (fresh.com). To define eyes without dark shadows or hard lines, apply a neutral eyeshadow to lids and then sweep bronzer just along the crease. Turnbow likes bronze liners; smudge into the outer three-quarters of your lash line. A good one: Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-in-Place Eye Pencil in Bronze (esteelauder.com). Follow with black mascara. The final touch: full, defined brows, which will help you pull off a natural makeup look, Turnbow says. Brush brows upward using a tinted gel. Try Laura Geller Beauty Define & Tame Brow Perfecting Gel (ulta.com).

A Radiant Complexion

"When your goal is a minimal makeup look, good skin is so important," Levin says. "Your routine> should start with skin-care treatments, not foundation." To get fresh-faced fast, use an exfoliating cleanser. Buffing away dead cells not only brightens skin but also helps your makeup go on seamlessly. Levin's rule of thumb: "The lighter your skin tone, the smaller the exfoliating grains should be." A too-aggressive scrub will leave your face red, she says. Try Neutrogena Visibly Even Foaming Cleanser (drugstores), which contains very fine microbeads. Then moisturize immediately. Turnbow suggests a rich, calming formula such as Dr. Hauschka Rose Day Cream (drhauschka.com) to even out any blotchy areas. "Massage your skin really well as you apply the cream," Turnbow says. "You'll rev up circulation, creating a nice glow."

 Sun-Kissed Skin

Summer may be over, but luminous skin is seasonless. The bare minimum: Rub on an illuminating body lotion to give your skin a subtle sheen. For more color, use self-tanner with these fall-appropriate application tweaks: Go for the slow glow with a gradual formula. Apply it two or three days in a row, then skip a few days before applying it again, suggests Anna Stankiewicz, tanning expert for Suvara at OC61 Salon & Spa in New York City. Two good options: Caudalie Soleil Divin Gradual Self Tanning Gel (us.caudalie.com) or Jergens 3 Days To Glow Moisturizer (drugstores). To avoid looking too tan and to prevent a patchy buildup, exfoliate skin every third application, says Kristyn Pradas, a New York City–based airbrush tanning specialist. Try buffing your body in the shower with Repechage Sea Spa Glow Natural Exfoliator With Dead Sea Salts (repechage.com).

 Sexy Waves

A few genetically blessed women (Gisele, Blake Lively) have the type of hair that air-dries into perfectly imperfect, rumpled waves. The rest of us need these simple tricks to help fake the look. First, consider your cut, says Harry Josh, international creative consultant for John Frieda. Hair that's at least collarbone length with low-maintenance long layers is ideal, he says. To build texture and coax out waves, spritz damp strands with a sea salt spray like R+Co Rockaway Salt Spray (randco.com). Then rub some cream or oil on your ends, says Tommy Buckett, a Garnier celebrity hairstylist. "Beach sprays can make hair look a little dry," he explains. "Cream or oil will break up the salt and give ends a more polished finish." Blow-dry hair, twisting and scrunching it with your hands, until it's about 85 percent dry. Then let it air-dry. If your hair is straight, wrap sections of strands around a 1-1/2-inch curling iron, starting 2 1/2 to 3 inches from the root, says Josh. Once hair is cool, use your fingers to break up curls and spritz with a dry-texture finishing spray -- a cross between a lightweight hair spray and a dry shampoo that adds body as it holds your style. Try Garnier Fructis Style Deconstructed Texture Tease Dry Touch Finish (drugstores).

Easy, Breezy Polish

If you're going for a natural vibe, it's all about clean, chic, nude nails, says Bernadette Thompson, celebrity manicurist. To nail it, start with the shape. "Ignore the trends and follow the line of your own white tips," she says. The ideal length is just a smidge past your fingertips. If your digits aren't in tip-top shape, swipe on a flesh-toned "nail concealer" to even out the color, Thompson says. Try Orly BB Creme (orlybeauty.com). Keep the look fresh, not flat, by choosing a nude shade that plays off your skin tone. If yours is cool, look for beiges with blue or gray undertones; if it's warm, choose nudes with golden or camel tones. Nails Inc. The Perfect Nude Nail Polishes (each, nailsinc.com), a collection of four skin-tone-specific shades, makes the process foolproof. Paint it on lightly for a sheer, sophisticated nail. Or apply two or three coats for a creamy, opaque look.
