Being stressed about your wedding is so overrated.

Planning a wedding is stressful for many reasons, not the least of which is that you're trying sort through tons of advice and opinions while attempting to make the decisions that work best for you. To avoid getting caught up in the fuss, here are some tried-and-true tips for keeping your cool throughout the planning process and wedding day.

Remember that every problem has a solution.

It may not seem like the case in the moment, but nearly every wedding problem has a solution. In fact, that's one of the biggest roles of a wedding planner—to be a problem solver. If you're planning your own wedding, it's helpful to talk to your vendors about the problems you're facing. If you can't think of a solution yourself, use their professional opinions to your advantage.

Keep it all in perspective.

At the end of the day, a wedding is an opportunity to gather all your loved ones in one place for a celebration of your love. It's not meant to be the most perfect day, or even a flawless event. Keep that in perspective when you run into planning hiccups and you'll find it's easier to weather the storms.

Take time out for yourself and for your relationship.

Something the most stressed brides will tell you is that they spent every waking hour outside of work planning their weddings. Poor time management can become a real problem. All weddings take time and attention, but you've got to make time for yourself and your relationship, too. Things always fall into place with weddings, so if you can give your well-being precedence, you'll find yourself stressing less about the little things.

Ask for help when you need it.

Delegate, delegate, delegate! There's no shame in asking for help when you need it and you're surely not the only bride to need it. Whether you call on your fiancé, your friends, or your family is up to you, but be sure you've got a handful of people you can lean on throughout the planning as well as on the wedding day.

Define your budget and stick to it.

The biggest cause of wedding stress and tears is money. By setting a realistic budget from the start of the planning, you'll be able to manage your money smartly and save yourself a whole lot of heartache later down the track.

Keep your sense of humor.

If something can go wrong, it most likely will. That's the case with so many things in life, and your wedding is no exception. You tore the train of your wedding dress walking up the dock to your ceremony? It happens. Let it go and move on so you don't spend the rest of your night sulking.
