Blame it on my choice of moisturizer, genetics, or a damaged moisture barrier (one of the joys of living in the beautiful, yet smoggy, New York City!), but my skin is, quite literally, always drier than the Sahara Desert. It doesn’t seem to matter that I drinks tons of water daily or that I’ve oh-so-carefully curated an entire skincare regimen in hopes of keeping my face as hydrated as possible. I still have more dry days — often where I’ll peak in the mirror at 3 p.m. to find my makeup peeling off — than I’d care to admit. Each time, I vow to switch out my current moisturizer for a more thirst-quenching formula, but ultimately I find my skin in the same sad, dehydrated predicament. It practically begs the question: Is it me, or is it my moisturizer?
[post_ads]Thanks to H2O+ Beauty’s smart new innovation, I no longer have to wonder how hydrated my skin is, or whether or not my moisturizer actually works, and neither do you. The pocket-sized Oasis Mili Skin Moisture Meter takes the guesswork out of gauging skin’s moisture levels — all you have to do is download the MiLi Pure app, sync it to your phone’s Bluetooth, and press the USB-like meter to your skin for five seconds. Afterwards, you’ll see a percentage pop up on your phone’s screen that indicates just how hydrated your skin is. Don’t be surprised if different parts of your face — or your body, which you can also check — yield different moisture levels. The higher the number, the more hydrated your skin is, so you can use this info as a cheat sheet to the areas of your face that require an extra surge of moisture.
It really works — you can physically see how much of a difference your moisturizer makes by simply measuring your skin’s levels before and after its application. If you’re constantly battling dryness like me and want to take it a step further, try massaging different moisturizers into your skin to see which truly quench your skin’s thirst.
